There are quite a few people in the world analyzing music and the creators of music while applying music theory as a judgement of the quality. Music theory also is used to explain choices being made in the creation of that music. 

I think music theory is a great tool for conversation and aiding in music creation, but ultimately music is emotion. Music theory does not explore the motivation for the music. It also isn’t necessary to explain why people like different types of music.
